Text Box: Shakespeare by the Sea was incorporated in Virginia on April 28, 2008 and was granted 501(c)(3) tax exempt status on June 12, 2009. This would not have been possible without the efforts of Ian Goodwin and William Dean along with the legal guidance of Gregory P. Bergethon of Lentz & Bergethon, Attorneys and Counselors at Law. In 2009 Michael H. Parker and Amanda Feutz joined the Board of Directors in support of the technical aspects of the company. It is our mission to promote the works of Shakespeare and his contemporaries through live performances, education, and any other media we come across. Shakespeare by the Sea has two secondary goals. The first is to produce very professional authentic productions. William has studied extensively, in New York and at William and Mary University, the works, methods and environment of William Shakespeare. Michael has over 30 years of experience at the professional and academic levels in the technical and business areas of theatrical production. Second, and not least, Shakespeare by the Sea wishes to cast and employ the best of our local (Southeastern Virginia) talent and pay a proper wage to our actors, directors, technicians, designers and support staff.
